So, you are traveling to Estonia’s capital with your family and are planning to discover Medieval Old Town, beautiful virgin nature and indoor and outdoor adventure parks! Sounds great!

Tallinn has plenty of spots for you to explore, and what’s more, everything is just around the corner. Most museums in Tallinn are large and spacious, sights close-by, public transportation well thought through. In case you plan to keep your stay in the city, you probably won’t need a car at all. Little feet will have plenty of time discovering free public playgrounds that are carefully planted all over city.

If you are planning to sightsee in Old Town, keep in mind, that the cobblestones are beautiful, but not very stroller friendly. Probably the best places to visit to enjoy the atmosphere, as well as keep little feet entertained would be visiting specious viewing platforms (Patkuli, Kohtuotsa) or the Puppet Theatre or Miiamilla Children’s Museum in Kadriorg.

Here are our favorite public kids playgrounds in Tallinn:

1. On Reidi tee, near Russalka monument.

Take your time, you are probably not going anywhere next few hours. Don’t forget some warmer clothes, as playground is located all over promade by the sea and keep some change for the coffee and ice-cream on the way. Get there by public transport as car parking spaces are limited (cost for parking 0,01 €/minute = 0,60 €/h)

2. Stroomi playground located next to Stroomi beach.

It is pretty great on a good day – you can relax on the beach, rent a sup/ surf board or run around on the playground with your toddler - a good walk guaranteed! Accessible by public transport, foot and car, as well as by bike or scooter.

3. The newest and most adventurous is in Tondiraba park. It is huge and will be most enjoyed by children 4+. Probably best to get there by car.

4. Playgrounds in Kadriorg near Miiamilla museum are also super fun and what is best, are designed by age, so no need to worry that older kids will overrun your toddler. Get there on a tram or bus or walk if you are staying in city center, it's located near Russalka. The route could be combined with Reidi tee.

5. Local's favourite in Löwenruh park. Be prepared it is always crowded if it is not raining. Probably the easiest to access by any transportation. Nice grill restaurant in case you get hungry.

If your kids are into animals, you would be surprised how many different mini-zoo’s and farms are publicly open in Tallinn and in no more than 1h drive around it.

We suggest to check out Tallinn’s Zoo, which is great to discover with a stroller and will probably take you a good few hours by foot or to go to more private mini-zoo’s like Polli, Kuristu or even why not Viikingite küla.

In Viikingi küla you are greated by these furry little fellas. Beware of the cobblestones.

Another great place to discover if your kids get runny noses and feel like they need a bit cheering up are salt chambers in Halos Lastekeskus. It is absolutely beautiful and 100% good for your health. The atmosphere there is very fairy tale like too.

To make most out of your stay we picked the best strollers that would hold up to the challenge of both Old Town, narrow sideways and fitting the smallest car trunks.

Best strollers to explore Tallinn:

1. Moon Resea Sport: super manoevorable, foldable and can handle any terrain.

2. Mamas&Papas Armadillo City is perfect to explore Tallinn. It is travel friendly, suitable from birth with XXL canopy that will allow to sleep through the journey. A bit bumpy on a country road.

3. Phil&Teds Go is great and lightweight if you explore the town on a public transport. Can tackle numerous terrains and feels strudy. Suitable from 6+ months

In case you plan to rent a car:

1. Don’t forget the safety seats. Here are some you can rent!

2. If you plan to spend some time to explore beautiful Estonia’s nature, travel bed is a must!

3. Keep children happy and comfortable with numerous travel accessories from neck pillow to baby carriers!
